WMDA/CAR Launches ECAT Training Program!
Fellow members, the CAR committee has been working on a training program like no other in this industry. If everything goes the way we expect, we will have 9 training events in the next twelve months. We will combine day and night classes to accommodate as many members as possible. We have contracted Gary Smith from GSS Enterprises to perform all the nine classes. Gary has a Cradle to Grave approach to Diagnosis and Repair. We will also address the changes in technologies in modern vehicles. Technology is changing by leaps and bounds and we need to change with them or loose.
Gary Smith will come to our area for an entire week. He will teach two of the same classes with different times and areas to accommodate or membership. He will visit selected shops to follow up with questions on the class. This will give Techs a chance to ask about something they may have not understood during the class. He will also go hands-on with the techs if necessary. Gary will follow up with a webinar in two weeks to follow up further. No one in the industry is doing this to my knowledge. Our reasoning is, we cannot retain everything during class time. We ask Gary to follow up to maximize retention.
First Class: Diagnostic Strategy and Approach:
How we approach the vehicle is more important than anything. Learn how to formulate a controlled and successful strategy for no-start, intermittent and common DTC diagnostics including lean codes, P0420 and Misfires. This is a Must See class for any tech, is case-study based (from actual diagnostics in the field) and is an eye-opener.
The first class will be held at Perry’s Restaurant, 1210 Annapolis Rd, Odenton, MD 21113 on Monday, April 20th at 3:00pm til 7:00pm. It will again be held at Hillmuth Automotive, 6810 Oak Hall Lane, Columbia MD 21045 and again on Wednesday, April; 22nd, 6:00pm til 10:00pm. Food will be provided at both classes.
The fee per class to members will be $129.90, and $159.90 to non-members. Members will be given first preference.

Due to the conflict during last year's convention and trade show, WMDA/CAR has changed the dates to September 10th - September 12th, 2015. We are aiming for a better and much smoother event this year compared to last year. We will be updating the website regularly to keep everyone posted on all information available pertaining to our upcoming convention and trade show. Make sure you save the dates! We look forward to seeing everyone in Ocean City this Fall.
